Winston Churchill dubbed Uganda the ‘Pearl of Africa’ due to its beauty, colour, and profusion, including dense misty forests, snow-peaked mountains, glassy lakes and sprawling savannahs. While mountain gorillas are the main attraction for many visitors, but certainly not the only attraction. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a habitat to more than half of the world’s population of endangered mountain gorillas. The park is also a sanctuary for colobus monkeys, chimpanzees and a variety of birds including hornbills and turacos.
Uganda is also home to the glacier-covered and snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains, known as the ‘Mountains of the Moon’. For visitors wishing for a safari, Queen Elizabeth National Park is a welcoming sight with its wildlife attractions.
